7 String Bass Viol after Nicolas Bertrand 1704

The Lu-Mi 7 string Bass Viol patterned after Nicholas Bertrand model has a low A string. It is quite suited to French baroque repertoire. It is ideal as a solo viol or as a continuo instrument.

The Bertrand model is made from fine quality wood with excellent craftsmanship. The belly is of spruce and the ribs, back and neck are maple.

The 7 string Bertrand Bass Viol is available in standard and master quality. The master quality viol has decorative inlay on the back and English style decoration on the belly. The fingerboard and tailpiece are ebony over maple in the deluxe model and maple only in the standard model. Carved scroll and pegboxes and/or dragon heads are available as well as antique varnish.
