The Lu Mi 6 String Bass Viol patterned after Richard Meares is well suited for renaissance and baroque continuo and is the best all-round 6 string bass viol to play with most repertoire. The Richard Meares model is made from fine quality wood with excellent craftsmanship. The belly is of spruce and the ribs, back and neck are maple.

This model is ideal for consort music. It plays well with all gut strings.

The Richard Meares Bass Viol model is available in standard and master quality. The master quality viol has decorative inlay on the back and English style decoration on the belly. The fingerboard and tailpiece are ebony over maple in the deluxe model and maple only in the standard model. Carved scroll and pegboxes and/or dragon heads are available as well as antique varnish.
